How to Reset a Neff Washing Machine

A reset can clear temporary faults and restore normal operation.

🔄 Note — A reset clears temporary glitches caused by power fluctuations or software errors. It will not fix mechanical faults. If the same error code returns after resetting, the underlying component needs to be investigated.

Power Reset — Main Method

1

Turn the washing machine off using the power button.

2

Switch the appliance off at the mains wall socket.

3

Leave the machine unplugged for at least 2 to 3 minutes. This allows the control board to fully discharge and reset.

4

Plug the machine back in and switch it on at the mains.

5

Turn the programme dial to the off or reset position, then select a new programme and press start. If the fault was temporary, the machine should run normally.

Programme Dial Reset — Alternative Method

On some Neff models, a programme dial reset can clear stored fault codes.

1

Turn the programme dial to the off or reset position (12 o’clock).

2

Turn the dial to the 6 o’clock position.

3

Press and hold the spin button while simultaneously turning the dial to the 7 o’clock position. Hold for approximately 5 seconds then release.

4

Turn the dial back to the off position and restart the machine.

When will a reset not fix the problem?
If the same error code returns after a reset, the fault is likely with a physical component such as the door lock, drain pump, heating element or a sensor. Use the error code guide below to identify the fault and find out what checks you can carry out before calling an engineer.
