Why Won’t My Hisense Washing Machine Door Open?
Hisense washing machine doors are designed to stay locked during and after a cycle as a safety feature. The door will not release until the machine has completed the cycle and confirmed the drum is empty. If the door will not open after the cycle has finished, the most common cause is water remaining in the drum due to a drainage fault.
Common Causes
Water still in the drum
The most common cause. A Hisense washing machine will not release the door lock if it detects water inside the drum. If F03 or FP is displayed, check the pump filter and drain hose for blockages before attempting to open the door.
Cycle not yet complete
The door will remain locked until the cycle has fully finished. Wait a few minutes after the cycle ends before attempting to open the door.
Power cut during cycle
If the machine lost power mid-cycle, the door lock may remain engaged. Restoring power and allowing the machine to complete or cancel the cycle will usually release the door.
Faulty door lock mechanism
If no fault code is displayed and the drum is empty, the door lock or latch mechanism itself may have failed and will require professional attention.
Child lock activated
If the child lock is active, the door and controls may be unresponsive. Check your user manual for how to deactivate the child lock on your model.
Checks To Try Before Calling An Engineer
Wait a few minutes
After the cycle ends, wait 2–3 minutes. The door lock releases automatically once the machine has completed its post-cycle checks.
Clean the pump filter
If water is visible in the drum or F03/FP is displayed, the machine will not release the door. Clean the pump filter — located behind a small panel at the bottom front of the machine — to allow the remaining water to drain.
Reset the machine
Switch off at the mains and leave unplugged for a few minutes. Plug back in — this can release the door lock if the machine has frozen mid-cycle.
Check the child lock
Consult your user manual to check whether the child lock is active and how to turn it off.
If You Need Spare Parts
If you are confident carrying out the repair yourself, compatible Hisense washing machine door lock parts are available on Amazon with next day delivery.
Always check your model number before ordering to ensure compatibility.
When To Contact A Professional
If the door still will not open after trying the above checks, the door lock mechanism is likely faulty and will need to be replaced by a qualified engineer. Do not attempt to force the door open as this can damage the door lock, hinge or seal.
