What the F03 Error Code Means
The F03 error code indicates that the washing machine has failed to drain water from the drum within approximately 6 minutes. The machine stops the programme as a precaution. This is most commonly caused by a blockage in the drain system and is often something the user can resolve.
Common Reasons This Error Appears
Blocked drain pump filter
The most common cause. The pump filter at the bottom front of the machine traps debris such as coins, hair grips and fluff. When it becomes blocked it restricts water flow and prevents the machine from draining.
Blocked or kinked drain hose
A kinked, twisted or blocked drain hose will prevent water from leaving the machine.
Blocked household drain or standpipe
A blockage in the sink waste or standpipe where the drain hose connects can prevent the machine from pumping water away.
Faulty drain pump
If the drain pump has failed it will not be able to pump water out of the drum even if there are no blockages.
Safe Checks You Can Try
Clean the drain pump filter
The pump filter is located behind a small access panel at the bottom front of the machine. Place a shallow tray and some towels on the floor to catch water. Unscrew the filter cap slowly to allow water to drain out. Remove the filter completely, clean it thoroughly under running water to remove all debris, and refit securely.
Check the drain hose
Inspect the drain hose at the back of the machine for any kinks or blockages. Ensure it is not inserted too far into the standpipe, which can block drainage.
Check the household drain
Pour water down the sink or standpipe where the drain hose connects to confirm the household drain is clear.
Restart the washing machine
After completing the above checks, switch the machine off, wait a few minutes, switch back on and restart the programme.
