How to Reset a Neff Tumble Dryer
If your Neff tumble dryer has stopped mid-cycle, is displaying an error code or is not responding as expected, a reset can often clear a temporary fault and get the machine running again without the need for an engineer.

Before You Reset — Clean the Lint Filter
Many Neff tumble dryer faults are caused or worsened by a blocked lint filter. Before carrying out a reset, always remove and clean the lint filter thoroughly. If the filter is heavily blocked, cleaning it may resolve the issue without the need for a reset at all.
Neff recommends cleaning the lint filter after every single drying cycle.
How to Reset a Neff Tumble Dryer
The most reliable reset method for a Neff tumble dryer is a power reset. Follow these steps:
Step 1
Turn the tumble dryer off using the power button.
Step 2
Switch the appliance off at the mains wall socket.
Step 3
Leave the machine unplugged for at least 2–3 minutes. This allows the control board to fully discharge and reset.
Step 4
Plug the machine back in and switch it on at the mains.
Step 5
Select a new programme and press start.
If the error code has cleared, the machine should start normally. If the same error code reappears, the underlying fault will need to be investigated further.
Thermal Overload Reset
If your Neff tumble dryer has overheated — which can happen if the lint filter or condenser has been heavily blocked — a thermal overload cut-out may have tripped. This is a safety device that cuts power to the heating element to prevent damage.
After cleaning the filter and condenser thoroughly, carry out the power reset above. In many cases this is sufficient to reset the thermal cut-out and restore heating. If the dryer still does not heat after a reset and cleaning, the thermal overload device itself may have failed and will need to be replaced by an engineer.
When a Reset Won’t Fix the Problem
A reset is effective for clearing temporary glitches and minor faults. However if the same error code returns after a reset, the fault is likely with a physical component such as a sensor, heating element or thermostat. In these cases the relevant component will need to be inspected and replaced.
