What the F14 Fault Code Means
The F14 fault code indicates a water intake fault involving the heater pressure switch. This can occur when the pressure switch is not registering correctly due to scale build-up or a partial blockage in the water circuit. Miele provides a specific user remedy involving a rinse aid solution that can free the heater pressure switch before calling for professional assistance.
Common Reasons This Fault Appears
Scale build-up on the heater pressure switch
Limescale deposits can affect the heater pressure switch’s ability to register water pressure correctly, particularly in hard water areas.
Partial blockage in the wash circuit
A partial obstruction in the internal water circuit can reduce pressure and cause the switch to fail to register.
Faulty heater pressure switch
The pressure switch itself may have developed a fault that prevents it from operating correctly.
Safe Checks You Can Try
Miele provides the following specific remedy for F14:
Remove the lower spray arm
Open the dishwasher door and remove the lower spray arm.
Remove the filter combination
Lift out the filter combination from the base of the wash cabinet.
Apply rinse aid solution
Pour 1 litre of warm water (maximum 75°C — do not use hotter water due to risk of scalding) with 3 to 5 drops of rinse aid into the dishwasher interior. Leave the solution to work for 5 minutes.
Refit and restart
Refit the filter combination, ensuring it is positioned correctly. Refit the lower spray arm. Start the programme again. If the fault persists, repeat this process 2 to 3 times.
Power reset
Switch the dishwasher off, wait a few seconds, then switch back on. Select the programme and start it.
