How to Reset a Miele Dishwasher

A reset can clear temporary faults and restore normal operation.

🔄 Note — A power reset clears temporary faults caused by power fluctuations, software glitches or minor sensor errors. It will not fix mechanical or electronic faults. If the same fault code reappears after resetting, the underlying issue needs to be investigated.

How to Reset Your Miele Dishwasher

Switch the dishwasher off using the on/off button.

Switch off at the mains socket and unplug the machine from the wall.

Leave the machine unplugged for at least 2 minutes. This allows the control electronics to fully discharge and reset.

Plug the machine back in and switch on at the mains socket.

Switch the machine on using the on/off button, select your programme and start the cycle. If the fault was temporary, the dishwasher should return to normal operation.

Cancelling a programme mid-cycle
On most Miele dishwashers you can cancel a running programme by pressing and holding the on/off button for a few seconds. The machine will pump out any remaining water before stopping. Refer to your user manual for the specific method on your model.
Maintenance notifications
Some Miele fault codes — such as F177 — are maintenance reminders rather than mechanical faults. These can be cleared by pressing the OK button on the display when prompted. The message will reappear until acknowledged.
When will a reset not fix the problem?
If the same fault code appears again after the reset, the appliance has an underlying issue that requires investigation. Codes including F11, F12, F13, F14, F15, F52, F69, F70, F78, F170 and F173 have user checks you can carry out. Others require professional attention.
