Why Is My Beko Tumble Dryer Not Heating Up?
When a tumble dryer fails to heat up, the drum may still turn but the air inside remains cool. The most common causes are a faulty heating element, a tripped thermal overload cutout, a blocked lint filter or a blocked condenser.
Common Causes
Faulty heating element
The most common cause. The heating element heats the air that dries the clothes. If it burns out, the dryer will run cold.
Tripped thermal overload cutout
A safety device that cuts power to the heating element if the dryer overheats. This is often triggered by a blocked lint filter or condenser. It can sometimes be reset but may need replacing if it has failed permanently.
Blocked lint filter
A clogged lint filter restricts airflow, causing the dryer to overheat and the thermal cutout to trip. The lint filter should be cleaned after every cycle.
Blocked condenser (condenser dryers)
On condenser dryers, a blocked condenser unit will restrict airflow and reduce heating efficiency. The condenser should be cleaned regularly.
Faulty thermostat
A faulty thermostat can prevent the heating element from receiving power.
Checks To Try Before Calling An Engineer
Clean the lint filter
Remove and clean the lint filter thoroughly. A blocked filter is the most common cause of heating faults and overheating.
Clean the condenser (condenser dryers)
Remove the condenser unit from the front of the machine and rinse it under running water. Allow to dry before refitting.
Check the heat exhaust hose (vented dryers)
Ensure the exhaust hose is not kinked, blocked or too long. Poor airflow will cause the thermal cutout to trip.
Reset the machine
Switch off at the mains and leave unplugged for a few minutes. Plug back in and try again.

When To Contact A Professional
If the dryer still does not heat after cleaning the filters and checking the airflow, the heating element, thermostat or thermal cutout is likely faulty and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified engineer.
