What the E03 Error Code Means
The E03 error code indicates that the pump has failed to drain the water from the drum, or that the pump filter is blocked and preventing water from draining correctly. The machine stops the programme as a precaution to prevent water overflowing. On some models the wash and end lights will flash together to indicate this fault.
Common Reasons This Error Appears
Blocked pump filter
The most common cause. The pump filter is designed to catch small items such as coins, buttons and fluff before they reach the pump. Over time it can become blocked and prevent drainage.
Kinked or blocked drain hose
If the drain hose at the back of the machine is kinked, crushed or blocked, water cannot exit the machine.
Blocked drain hose connection
A blockage in the household drain or standpipe where the hose connects can prevent water from draining away.
Drain hose positioned too high
If the end of the drain hose is positioned higher than 100cm above floor level, the pump may struggle to push water out effectively.
Faulty drain pump
If the pump itself has failed, it will not be able to remove water from the drum regardless of whether the filter is clear.

Clean the pump filter
The pump filter is located behind a small cover panel at the bottom front of the machine. Place a shallow dish or towels beneath it before opening as water will drain out. Twist the filter cap anticlockwise to remove it, clear any debris, and refit by twisting clockwise. Always ensure the cap is tightly refitted to prevent leaks.
Check the drain hose
Inspect the drain hose at the back of the machine for any kinks or blockages. Ensure the end of the hose is positioned between 60cm and 100cm above floor level.
Run a hot wash
Running an empty hot wash can help clear any partial blockages in the internal pipework.
Reset the machine
Unplug the washing machine from the mains socket. Hold down the Start/Pause button for 10 seconds. Wait 30 seconds then plug back in and try again.
