What the F11 Fault Code Means
The F11 fault code indicates that the dishwasher has been unable to drain water from the wash cabinet. The drain pump or non-return valve may be blocked or faulty. Miele provides specific guidance for different model ranges — the steps to access the drain pump differ depending on whether you have an older G1xxx–G6xxx series machine or a newer G7xxx/G5xxx Discovery model from 2019 onwards.
Common Reasons This Fault Appears
Blocked drain pump
Food debris, broken glass or other foreign objects can accumulate in the drain pump and prevent it from operating correctly.
Blocked or jammed non-return valve
The non-return valve in the sump can become jammed or blocked, preventing water from draining out of the machine.
Blocked drain hose
A kinked or blocked drain hose can prevent water from leaving the appliance.
Blocked household drain
A blockage in the sink waste or household drain can prevent the dishwasher from pumping water away.
Safe Checks You Can Try
For G1xxx–G6xxx models:
Check and clean the non-return valve
Press the catch on the non-return valve inwards and tip it inwards to release the cover. Check the drain pump impeller by manually turning it. Refit the non-return valve by placing it down vertically from above, ensuring it is flush with the edge and the catch engages completely.
Clean the drain pump
Switch off the dishwasher and unplug from the mains. Remove the filter combination from the wash cabinet. Scoop any remaining water out of the wash cabinet using a small container. Clean the drain pump of any debris. Be cautious of glass splinters which can be difficult to see.
For G7xxx and G5xxx Discovery models (from 2019 onwards):
Remove and clean the drain pump cover
Press the catch of the drain pump cover inwards and tip the cover inwards to release it. Remove the lower spray arm and filter combination first. Scoop water out of the wash cabinet. Clean the drain pump of any debris, taking care of possible glass splinters. Refit the cover by placing it down vertically from above, ensuring it is flush with the edge and the catch engages fully.
Check the drain hose
Ensure the drain hose is not kinked, crushed or blocked.
Restart the dishwasher
After cleaning, switch back on and restart the programme.
